Support to Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Serbia - funded by UNHCR

Focus area

Enhancing the access of refugees/asylum seekers to their basic rights by provision of material assistance, basic medical care as well as psychosocial and educational support. In daily coordination with the Government Authorities, DRC and UNHCR are engaged in shelter/wash interventions aiming at improving the reception conditions in the various Refugee Aid Points in the country, health assistance, protection including child protection, information dissemination, provision of food and NFIs and planning winterization support.
Humanitarian needs will be met at the main entry and exit points, as well as along the journey along the country (e.g. Presevo, Vranje, Bujanovac, Dimitrovgrad, Bosilegrad, Zaječar, Nis, Belgrade, Subotica, Sid) through comprehensive aid delivery mechanism (storage and secondary distribution of F/NFIs to EVIs).

The overall objective of the project is to enhance the comprehensive assistance and protection response to the current refugee crisis affecting Serbia as well as the whole region.

Specific objectives of the project:

  • Ensure the direct provision of humanitarian support to refugees and persons in need transiting through/being in Serbia in close coordination with Government of Serbia Authorities;

  • Support the Government bodies/agencies in managing the efficient response to the refugee crisis.
