Building Capacities of Migration Councils through Development and Realisation of Local Action Plans

On 3 and 4 November 2016, the Training workshop “Capacity Building of Migration Councils through Development and Realisation of Local Action Plans“ was organised within the Project “Enhancement of migration response capacities in Serbia” funded by the Embassy of Denmark in Serbia and implemented by Danish Refugee Council Serbia in close cooperation with Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia.

The purpose of the training/workshop was to review relevant planning practices in 15 selected municipalities and gain insight on how to improve their work in designing and updating Local Action Plans. The training/workshop was conducted in three segments, each including presentations and discussion on the following issues: a) Legal framework in the field of migration management; b) Structure of the LAP document, formulation of general and specific objectives of the LAP including differences; and c) Exchange of experiences and good practices. As noted by the participants, this kind of capacity building activity is very much appreciated in the sense of improvement of their skills and knowledge on how to successfully and effectively prepare the Local Action Plan.

Furthermore, all the participants were interested in future activities related to the enhancement of Migration Council capacities, as well as the organisation of various raise awareness events as migration responses.
